Position Available: Development Associate/ Grant Writer


Creative Growth Art Center is a studio and gallery that serves artists with developmental, mental and physical disabilities, providing a professional studio environment for artistic development and gallery exhibition and representation. CGAC is the oldest and largest art center of its kind in the world, and maintains a well-established reputation as a vital contemporary art center by encouraging the highest level of achievement and recognition for our artists with disabilities. Founded in 1974, on the idea that all people can gain strength, enjoyment and fulfillment from experiences in the arts and are capable of producing works of high artistic merit, CGAC became the first artist-run space offering a professional art studio, exhibition opportunities, and a supportive artistic community for artists with disabilities.

Creative Growth is seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented Development Associate/Grant Writer who can work in a casual, creative, busy environment. The Development Associate/Grant Writer reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for writing all grants and reports, assisting in Creative Growth’s fundraising campaigns and managing the donor database.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Write, prepare, and submit grant proposals and reports
  • Research new grant opportunities
  • Maintain organized grant files and calendars
  • Assist in the development and execution of internal fundraising campaigns
  • Ensure timely and professional donor and member acknowledgments
  • Support director with major donor cultivation and stewardship activities
  • Assist in the development and execution of donor and member cultivation
  • Manage donor database
  • Maintain records of gifts, grants and donors
  • Assist with cultivation and fundraising events
  • Generate and send thank you letters
  • Administrative support
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of three years grant writing experience
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Highly organized and able to meet deadlines
  • Positive attitude, flexibility, team-oriented
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge and working experience with FileMaker a plus
  • Knowledge of fundraising information sources
  • Knowledge of basic fundraising best-practices and strategies
  • Ability to read and understand financial statements and budgets
  • Ability to articulate and understand organization’s goals and needs
