Stepping Stones

Juan Aguilera immigrated to the United States from Mexico at the age of eight. He returns there often to visit his family. His understanding of and pride in his heritage is apparent in the beautiful ceramic vessels he sculpts and paints and in the sweet vignettes of rural life he depicts in his drawings and linocuts.
