ABOUT THE EVENT:
Organized by curator David Fierman in collaboration with the Living Museum Society, the exhibition serves as a platform for artists working within progressive studio environments and inclusive arts organizations. Throughout the week, the program includes public exhibition hours, performances, tours, opening talks, and panel discussions focused on disability arts, inclusive studio practice, mental health, and cultural participation.Creative Growth will present work by George Willson, Ying Ge Zhou, and Joseph Alef.

Historical Perspectives and Avant-Garde Legacies: Situating Artists with Disabilities within the Canon and Beyond:

This panel situates contemporary progressive studio practice within broaderhistorical contexts, tracing lineages from European studio models and the Prinzhorn Collection to conceptual art movements in New York and beyond. It reflects on how artists with disabilities and mental health conditions can be understood within avant-garde histories, and foregrounds the essential role these artists play in shaping contemporary art and expanding understandings of social inclusion.
